Trampolines

Children all over the country utilize trampolines as a source for play and exercise. Parents who purchase a trampoline for their children must not overlook the dangers associated with the product. The main cause of trampoline injuries include collision with another jumper, improper landing, falling off the trampoline, or landing onto the trampoline springs or frame. Faulty manufacturing has been blamed on a number of children’s injuries when using trampolines. The CPSC has a mandated safety standard for trampolines, insisting that improper use can result in paralysis or death. Always make sure that the equipment is safe, including proper shock-absorbing pads and ladders. Never place a trampoline near trees or structures that could potentially injure the jumper.

Recalled Unsafe Trampolines

  • Hedstrom Corporation recalled 116,000 trampolines because the welding on the frame could break during use, causing a person to fall and suffer serious injury.
  • Jumpking, Inc. recalled nearly 1 million trampolines and almost 300,000 “FunRing” enclosures sold separately and in conjunction with Jumpking trampolines. Faulty welding on these products can result in concussions, head/neck/back injuries, broken bones, sprains, lacerations, and bruises.
  • InMotion Trampolines recalled 668,000 trampolines. Upon assembly of this trampoline, the trampoline could snap back into the folded position and strike the person putting it together. There have been a number of injuries associated with this product including (but not limited to) facial bone fractures, corneal abrasions, and chipped teeth.
