Full Size Cribs

Since the 1970's the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has created regulations that have successfully reduced death and injuries caused by cribs by 90%, however there is still room for improvement. Each year there are new cribs that are sold to the public that pose a threat to the safety of children. Many of these cribs are recalled, for return or repair, but it is often too late. One large manufacturer, Simplicity, had to recall over one million of its cribs in 2007 alone:

  • Aspen 3-in-1 Crib was recalled after two reported deaths. Cribs were sold with screws that did not fit properly and failed to hold up the mattress.
  • Lancaster Convertible Crib was sold with paint that can flake off and poses a choking hazard.
  • Nursery-In Box Crib was sold with metal fasteners that reportedly come off, posing a choking risk. In addition, incorrect assembly directions are included that will result in sides that can disengage and create a danger of entrapment.
