Car Seats

Automobile accidents are the #1 cause of death for children ages 5 to 14. If the proper safety measures are taken, child injuries that occur as the result of an auto accident can be significantly reduced. Unfortunately, even with the proper precautions being taken, faulty baby safety seats have been the cause of various injuries and deaths during automobile accidents. When a car safety seat does not perform its necessary functions, its ineffectiveness can cause numerous injuries to the baby or child, or even neglect to protect them from serious injury. Manufacturers must be held accountable for these defective products. Faulty shoulder straps, flimsy seat belt slots, or improper pelvic protection can all cause great harm to a child.

  • Dorel Juvenile Group, Inc. recalled 670,000 infant car seats after it was determined the plastic handle locks can break or release, causing the seat to unlatch or flip forward. There have already been reports of children falling and suffering injuries to the head and face.
  • Century Products has recalled nearly 4 million car seats when it was determined that the handle can break when used as a carrier. There have been reports of some serious injuries including concussions, skull fractures, lacerations, broken bones, and bruises & scratches.
  • Kolcraft Enterprises recalled 754,000 infant car seats because when used as a carrier, the handle can unexpectedly move from the intended carrying position, causing the seat to suddenly rotate. This can cause the infant to fall.
